About

Hi, I'm Vaidhi. You can find more about me at vaidhi.me.

This started on a Friday evening, in one of those chats that wander off somewhere. A few facts about who ends up running the country came up, and they sounded almost too odd to be true. I went looking for one place that showed who leads us, where they come from and where they go next. There wasn't one, so on Saturday I built it. I also picked up a new way of building, a new framework and a whole new ecosystem along the way.

GovernedBy brings together public data on every UK government minister since 1979: their schools, their careers before politics, how they climbed through government, how they voted, and what they did after leaving office.

If you'd like to take this to another country, help make the UK data better, or contribute ideas, analysis or code, I'd love to hear from you at hello@vaidhi.me. And if there's something the site can't answer yet, tap Ask us and tell us what to look into next.
